Making period movies is no easy task. But filmmakers like Vasanthabalan could be an exemption to this, for he managed to capture even the busy Ranganathan Street with all its liveliness in his last venture ‘Angadi Theru’, which is tougher than making a period film.

Virudhunagar Sandhippu (2011) is a high-budget movie produced under the banner of ARB Productions. Sathya and Sandhya are two friends, who meet at college and fall in love. When they decide to get hitched, disaster strikes. The murderer of Sathya’s parents is revealed as Kottaisamy, who is none other than Sandhya’s father.

The ugly truth breaks up the couple, but their hearts yearn for each other. Do these star-crossed lovers get together in the end? Or does fate have other plans for them?

The shoot took place at Virudhunagar, Thirumangalam, Sholavandan and Chennai. The lead actors are new comers Chandru and Denna. Rajanand is introduced as the villain. Other prominent actors include Ponnambalam, K.R.Vijaya, Muthukalai, Kaadal Sugumar, Nellai Siva, Chelladurai, Kaadal Krishna Moorthy and many more.

The cinematography is by Sanjai Nivash and editing is done by the most famous editor in the industry, Suresh Urs. Choreography is by S.L.Balaji and Power Siva. The other crew members are Sunderrajan for Art Direction, Nagaraj for Make Up, Shahul Hameed for Costumes, Rajagopal for Stills, Sura for Public Relations and K.P.Selvam as Production Executive.

Besides writing the Story, Screenplay and Dialogues for Virudhunagar Sandhippu, the Director cum Producer – V.S.D.Rengarajan has also composed the music, penned the lyrics and has even sung a track.
